Introducing, Student of the Month for the PreK-1 class. T shared this honor with another little boy, Daniel (also a trouble-maker). I couldn't help but notice that there are 16 kids in her class, and approximately 8 months in the school year. So, T and Daniel were the last to receive this honor. Who cares?
I asked Mrs. M yesterday why T got it, and her response was that T was the "most improved". Yikes. Isn't that like Miss Congeneality....a reward, but not one?
Anyway, Dot and I were present for the festivities, which was the last school assembly of the year. Dot and I couldn't help but look at each other and laugh. It was like we were in a time warp, and sucked back to 1969. After morning prayers and the flag salute, the music teacher lead the school in a rousing rendition of God Bless America...to the accompaniment of....an Accordian. What a riot, but that's what I love about this school. It and its students are just really, really nice.
Now, we're off to dinner. T gets to pick, since she's the award recipient. I have the feeling we'll end up at Nordstroms...for the 2nd time this week.

A marvelous plan was made in the stars,
to create a miracle across the ocean so far....
Then entwine and weave all the hopes and labor,
it would take to bring us this joy called "Taylor"....
Now three lives are blessed and somewhere in the stars,
the planners are smiling, as we all are.

I was floored when T chose Calif. Pizza Kitchen instead of her beloved Nordstrom Cafe. We told the waiter we were celebrating "student of the month", and T scored a free ice cream sundae, complete with candle to blow out. She was THRILLED!
T looks so happy and proud of her award and a free sundae to boot with a blow out candle. Way to go, T. xox
