The Highs and Lows
After my busy day yesterday, T and I took off to the mall for some dinner and to stroll around. T had a fab time, as always, running around the mall's open areas.
And then there are the lows. T was a big fat grump today after school. Not even her new birthday shirt that I ordered from Etsy cheered her up. She was just plain tired, cranky, and hungry.
I, however, was thrilled with the shirt. The bow can either be worn on the shirt, or in her hair. I'm thinking she whould wear it with some black capri leggings and a short, hot pink, tutu skirt. ...or maybe just hot pink leggings. haven't decided.
meanwhile, t came busting out of the cafeteria after school this evening, announcing "how do you like my new look?" She was very please with herself. Megan in her class gave her pigtails during aftercare. Of course, her dear old mom is always trying to convince her to let me give her pigtails, and she always refuses. But some snot-nosed kid asks her, and suddenly pig tails are the greatest thing since sliced bread.
Peer pressure. Figures.

This and That
Well, I got the new license, but not without a bit a drama. Off I went to No Dade, only to find out that it is the only location within miami-dade county that REQUIRES one to have an appointment. Of course, NO WHERE on their damn website do they mention this. I can understand why they require appts. I poked my head in to check out what was going on inside, and it was a ZOO.
So, I quickly took myself off to another location which did accept appointments at the midway mall. I was in and out in 30 minutes. Seriously. For all my bitching, this was the frickin DISNEY LAND of DMVs. They had it down. 20 stations were manned to help the customers. Numbers given out to the customers. Chairs to sit and wait in.
Luckily, my new DL has a photo of me with my eyes open. The nice man let me take a do-over shot. In fact, he took one look at the first picture and said, "Why don't we take this one over". Yep. That bad. I was so concerned that I wouldn't have closed eyes in the picture, that I looked like a deer in headlights on it. Had my eyes open so big that I looked, in his words, "really scared".
I've been really busy at work with arrest warrants. a number of them. The affidavits in support thereof were over 50 pages. Can't say anything about them here yet, but if you tune into local news on Wednesday, you just might here about it...that is, if we can catch up with the defendants before they flee.
We are off to superwheels skating rink bright and early on Saturday. Going to book T's birthday party there. its set for 3/31.
That's it for now!

Honorable Mentioned Award!
Here's T with all the first graders who won awards for the Accelerated Readers Program. T won the honorable mentioned award. I had no idea that she was even doing the program. Hmmm, what does that say about me?
Since winning the award, I've learned that apparently the the children complete their classwork early, they can then read books and take little tests about the book, I guess to measure their reading comprehension. At the end of each semester, the parents get a print out of the books they read, the level of reading the book was, and the score on the little 5 question test.
I was laughing b/c T missed the most on the easiest levels. Clearly, somebody was messing around that day and not concentrating. I'm not sure if one is supposed to do it at home as well. That must be the case, as one little girl who won first place, had read like 40 books.
In other news, we shall spend a find weekend, pleasantly ignoring the superbowl. To all those with an interest, good luck to your team.
to create a miracle across the ocean so far....
Then entwine and weave all the hopes and labor,
it would take to bring us this joy called "Taylor"....
Now three lives are blessed and somewhere in the stars,
the planners are smiling, as we all are.
